Hip-Hop is a movement and culture that started to emerge in the late 60s and early 70s in the USA
in an environment of strong racial discrimination. Today it incorporates a multitude of powerful art forms such as
MCing, DJing, Street Dances, Graffiti, Beatboxing and more.
At Street Dance Halifax we value Hip-Hop's rich and complex history and advocate that teaching,
sharing, and learning about its elements always be done with respect of the culture, its origin and evolution.
This is why at Street Dance Halifax our classes focus on the freestyle aspect of the dances and on giving room for improvisation
and self-expression around the knowledge and fundamentals progressively acquired. In this spirit we will always do our best to remain true to
the dance styles and we will always strongly encourage the expression of your own personalities and push forward your growth
and development as dancers.
Come try our classes for free!
